A Platform Won't Take Your Images Down. Here's How to Escalate.

File a complaint with the FTC, which enforces a federal law requiring many sites to remove non-consensual images within 48 hours. And go over the platform's head to the companies that keep the site online: its host, domain registrar, CDN, and DNS provider, each of which has its own abuse channel and can pressure the site or take the content down.

As of May 19, 2026, the TAKE IT DOWN Act requires covered platforms to give you a removal process and act within 48 hours of a valid request. If a platform gave you no process or missed the window, file at takeitdown.ftc.gov. You don't need a lawyer to do this.

A website isn't one company. The host stores the site's files and can remove content directly. The domain registrar can suspend the domain. A CDN, like Cloudflare, can pass your report to the host and help reveal who that host is, though it usually can't delete content itself. A free WHOIS lookup shows the registrar; hosting-lookup tools often show the host or CDN.

While a takedown is in progress, you can ask Google to remove non-consensual or fake intimate images from its search results. This doesn't remove them from the site itself, so do both.
